Our little Desiree is such a joy to be part of our family. She is always giving everyone a smile wherever she goes. The folks around our community know her by name. She has been such a trooper throughout her life. She received her wings on American Airlines when she was only 11 months old. She celebrated her first birthday with her cousin, “Bear” in Wisconsin. She made two more trips east before we decided she had enough.
Unfortunately, she has had medical issues since she was two years old, and has been in and out of hospitals ever since. I thank my lucky stars that I decided to get pet insurance when we adopted her, otherwise she probably would not be here today. But with close watch, good food, great doctors, and a lot of love; she is thriving. She has touched so many people in her ten years with us, and made our lives so complete.
It is ironic that Desiree was picked to be pet of the month for December because that is her favorite time of the year. She knows some of the presents are hers and she keeps a close watch on them until I say she can open them.
